When considering if an air vest is right for you, there are many considerations and one of the important is medical conditions.
There are three medical conditions that are top of that list that could impact your decision about potentially buying an air vest:
1) If you have any sort of a bone density disorder;
2) If you have breast implants;
3) If you have any implanted cardiac devices.
First, the bone density issue - if you have osteopenia or early onset osteoporosis or any other bone density disorder, we want to make sure that we're fitting you in a very specific way for an air vest In some cases if the situation is advanced enough, we would recommend not actually doing an air vest at all and considering a body protector instead.
Second, implants - we want to make sure that you're sized appropriately if you have breast implants because we don't want any risk of that implant rupturing. It's something that's highly, highly unlikely, but we want to make sure that your vest isn't too snug and potentially also get you into a vest that's a little bit roomier across the chest area to avoid any risk of that happening.
Third, electrical devices - we don’t want anything interfering with electrical signals of medical devises. There is a vest that has a magnet in it, and while that magnet is really far from your chest, we don't want to take any chances so we will steer clear of that vest when fitting and get the rider into something that doesn't actually have a magnet to avoid that risk altogether.
