Taking proper care of your helmet will ensure that it’s able to do its job protecting your head.
Store your helmet in a cool, dry place. Don’t store your helmet in direct sunlight.
You can wipe down the outer shell with mild soap and washcloth and use a helmet deodorizer between rides. You can also use a soft brush to wipe out the inside of your helmet between rides. Many helmets have removable liners, so if your helmet has a removable liner, hand-wash it in cold water with mild soap and make sure you rinse it thoroughly.
Don't use household chemicals on your helmet. It shouldn't need to be said, but don't put your helmet in the dishwasher. Also, do not modify your helmet by adding your own bling. It might impact the efficacy of the helmet and will void the warranty.
If you drop your helmet on a hard surface, it may need to be replaced. Replace your helmet every three to five years. The sweatier you are and the more frequently you use it, the more frequently it needs to be replaced. Even if your helmet didn't hit the ground, it's often good to replace it in the event of a fall. Take advantage of your brand's accident replacement program if you've had a fall.
Enjoy your ride!
