Ride EquiSafe specializes in equestrian safety. We’re here to inform and educate riders so that you can best advocate for your own personal safety in the saddle.

So why would we say that you shouldn’t buy a best selling vest or helmet?

Because what sells best doesn’t matter. What does matter is that the product fits you and provides the functionality that you are seeking to address in your safety priorities.

Here’s our guidance on how to buy:

  1. Get professionally fitted by someone specially trained in horseback riding safety products. Just because a shop carries a product doesn’t mean they’re trained on how it’s supposed to fit and how it protects.
  2. Fit and function over fashion. Fit is foremost - if the product doesn’t fit appropriately, it can’t do its job. The function and coverage of the product should address your safety priorities. The lowest priority should be aesthetics, although we know that’s a factor too.
  3. Certifications - understand what certification standards each product meets and how that applies to your protection priorities. A qualified fitter can help you navigate this.
  4. Disclose medical conditions with your fitter - certain medical conditions require different fitting approaches, so it’s important to share them so that we’re not introducing risk with the recommendation of a product.
  5. Don’t buy what everyone else is buying. This isn’t the latest trend - it’s keeping you safe and prolonging your ability to provide for yourself, your family, and your longevity in the saddle.

You’ll never see a Top 10 list or Bestseller list of safety equipment from us. Because what is most appropriate for one person might not be what’s most appropriate for you. Ride EquiSafe has vetted all of the products that we carry to ensure they meet our standards. If we don’t carry it, there are specific reasons why.

Because when you’re serious about safety, you need a partner who is too.
